Amanda Brugel

(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal that is known as the West Island. The West Island has a lot of communities. People who have never known about it may mistake it for a separate, west-facing island. The West Island is frequently referred to as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time there was short. Brugel grew to be a woman of a certain age in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become a dancer, but a growth spurt meant that she literally outgrew the dancers she was with. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was 6 feet 1 inches tall. When I reached the height of the size of my male friends then I stopped. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. For Brugel it was the guidance by her drama instructor at high school that led her in the direction she required. Her teacher advised her to audition as Anne in their annual school production. She tried out and eventually got the role of the main character of Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received the Bachelors in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Since then, she's appeared performing in over 60 plays, large and small. One of the most memorable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian on the season 1 cast of the show and only seen occasionally was the only Canadian.
